Bolaks is one of the pioneers in Norwegian and global aquaculture. Founded by three brothers in 1975 and still family-owned, it is a fully integrated company with data from the whole chain to put to use. Bolaks has used Clarify since 2020 as a core part of its data infrastructure, to empower everyone in the organization to use data as a natural everyday tool.

Modern aquaculture generates gigabytes of data every day. But quality data is only part of the puzzle: to understand why, and what to do, diverse teams of experts must come together around it.

Data is spread across siloed systems and formats, so finding, organizing and visualizing it is time-consuming and labor-intensive. Human knowledge is siloed as well, in e-mails, meetings, phone calls and ad-hoc discussions. A question like "what did we do the last time we saw low oxygen levels at this site" becomes very complex to answer.

Bolaks has invested in high-tech equipment on all of their farms: environmental sensor systems, industrial control systems, cameras and lasers. The Clarify team, working with in-house experts and the system providers, has helped Bolaks digitalize every farm.

Real-time data streams directly to Clarify, giving one point of easy and secure access to high-resolution time-series data across systems and sites. On web and mobile, people can search, organize, visualize and explore the data, from the field to top management.

By adding comments and leading discussions in Clarify, Bolaks builds one common place for data and human insight, which improves both human decision-making and machine learning.
